3. Prompt Engineering & Structured Output — 20%
System prompts, prefilling, XML-tagged inputs, chain-of-thought steering, and — critically — JSON schema structuring to prevent hallucinations. This isn't "write a good prompt." It's "design a prompt architecture that produces reliable, parseable output at scale."
What to study: Structured output with tool_use and JSON mode, prompt caching strategies, how to use system prompts versus user messages for different reliability guarantees, and techniques for grounding Claude's responses in provided context.
4. Tool Design & MCP Integration — 18%
